Your files and collection
The app reads the audio files, folders and cover material you select, analyzes recordings and stores cassette names, years, notes, track information, analysis results, artwork and references to your files. Recording uses the audio input you choose with your permission. Audio recordings and exports are saved to your chosen storage. Your collection uses your private iCloud/CloudKit database when available, with a local fallback; collection records and stored artwork may therefore sync through Apple. Audio files remain at their storage locations, which may themselves be cloud-synced. Verilob does not operate an upload server for your recordings.
Shazam and Apple Music
For recognition, ShazamKit generates audio signatures from sections of your recording and sends them to Apple’s Shazam service. Apple Music searches send catalog queries and receive track metadata and artwork. With your authorization, the app accesses your music library and creates playlists; it uses automation of the Music app to add your own recordings. Apple processes network and account information under its own terms. Music-library synchronization depends on your Apple settings. Internet access is required for recognition and catalog searches.
Optional Claude requests
If you configure your own Anthropic API key and ask Claude for a cassette name and year, the app sends a condensed analysis record to Anthropic’s API. This can contain track and cassette information, file names and your notes; it does not include the audio recording. Avoid sensitive personal information in that material. Checking the key also contacts Anthropic. The key is stored in the macOS Keychain. Remove it in Settings to disable these requests. Anthropic processes requests under the terms of your API account; its retention rules and international processing apply. See the provider information linked below.
Diagnostics and support
The app writes diagnostic information to macOS logs, such as processing steps, timings and errors. These can include track or cassette details and Claude suggestions. Cassette Importer includes no Verilob analytics or advertising SDK. Apple may process crash and diagnostic reports according to your system settings. If you email us, we process your email address, message and attachments to answer your request. Do not send API keys or unnecessary personal data.
This website
These Cassette Importer pages load their fonts, styles and images locally. They use no analytics, tracking cookies, browser storage or third-party embeds. Visiting sends your IP address, requested URL and connection/browser information to our hosting infrastructure for delivery and security. The current website is hosted on a Hetzner server. Server and security logs are separate from processing inside the app. Following an external link or using email involves the respective provider.
Purposes, legal bases and recipients
Where Verilob processes personal data, the purpose is providing the requested service or pre-contractual support (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), answering other enquiries and securing website operation (Article 6(1)(f), our legitimate interests), or meeting legal obligations (Article 6(1)(c)). Where consent is required, Article 6(1)(a) applies and consent may be withdrawn for the future. System permission prompts control technical access; they do not replace a provider’s privacy terms. Hosting and email providers may process data for us. Apple and Anthropic process data when you use their services under their respective terms. Their international transfers and safeguards are described in their privacy information; this notice does not promise EU-only processing.
Retention and deletion
You control your source files and exported recordings. Removing a cassette from the app removes its collection entry across synced devices, but analysis caches may remain. It does not automatically delete source audio, exported files, existing Music playlists or copies held by other services. Manage those separately, including iCloud data and backups. Revoke app permissions in macOS settings and remove the Claude key in the app’s Settings. We retain support correspondence only as long as needed to resolve and document the request or meet legal retention duties. Website logs are retained for operation and security and removed when no longer needed; contact us for details of the current hosting retention configuration. Provider retention follows the linked policies.
Your rights
Subject to the legal conditions, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction and data portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw consent without affecting prior lawful processing. Contact info@verilob.com. You may complain to a supervisory authority, including the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA). Verilob does not use the data described here for automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
