Common questions

Which devices and languages are supported?

PhaseFlow requires iOS / iPadOS 18.5+ or watchOS 11.5+. The app interface and spoken cues are English-only. These website pages are available in English and German.

How do I build my own workout?

Create or edit a workout, add phases and set their names and durations. Use a Repeat block for multiple rounds. Eight sample workouts are included as starting points.

Why can’t I hear the coaching cues?

Check that audio feedback is enabled in the app’s Settings, then check your device volume and audio output. The voice cues use English speech. On Apple Watch, a haptic tap marks each phase change.

Why are my workouts not syncing?

Check that your devices use the same iCloud account and can connect to iCloud. If the app reports a storage or sync problem, include that message when contacting support. A local-only fallback cannot sync; a temporary in-memory session does not keep changes after the app closes.

Can I use the Watch without my phone nearby?

Yes. The Watch runs workouts on its own. It requests HealthKit workout-session permission to keep the timer running while your wrist is down. This version does not save a workout to Health or Fitness. If a timer is running on the other device, the takeover prompt can stop it only when the devices can communicate.

How do I control a workout without opening the app?

On iPhone, the Live Activity offers pause/resume, skip and stop controls on the Lock Screen and supported Dynamic Island models. Siri can pause, resume, skip or stop a running workout. For example: “Pause my PhaseFlow workout.”

Do spoken cues continue with the phone locked?

Keep PhaseFlow open for continuous voice cues. The current version has no continuous background audio, so iOS may suspend the app and spoken cues may stop when you lock the phone or switch apps. The timer uses elapsed time to catch up when you return. Live Activity countdowns and controls are separate from spoken cues.
